When our back’s against the wall.

We all walk around with a constant stream of dialogue in our head. Generally speaking, the theme is fairly consistent depending on which voice we are giving the floor to. And therein lays all the difference between a joyfully manifested life and one that is fraught with snags, thistles and potholes. You see, we have two voice sources, one that is ego-driven (ingenious at clever camouflage) and the other that is purely, softly, lovingly from the heart. The trick is to recognize the difference between the two, and then decide which voice you want to pay attention to. Here’s a hint: the heart never lies and always, always nudges us in directions that will ultimately serve us and everyone around else perfectly. The ego, on the other hand, has fear as its motivating component and we all have experienced the consequences of living a fear-driven life.

Often we will wait until our back is against some kind of wall before we surrender to the truth of who we are. It is when all is seemingly lost, our boat appears to be sinking, the gig is up, and we think we have no where else to turn.

Ah, that is when we really get to shine. The point is, why wait until your head is the only thing that isn’t swallowed up by quicksand? Why not begin to be the brilliant sleuther you were intended to be right now, a wise soul capable of great discernment, profound knower of truth and Light Bearer Extraordinaire?

You have nothing to lose.

What Do You Want to Tell Me?

Our physical bodies are but one aspect of our human existence, and yet they scream and demand our attention from time to time, shouting “I’m in pain. Do something!” So we do something. Sometimes we feel the need to see our physician. We take various medications for the physical, the mental and, often for the emotional, hoping that will take care of it. Sometimes we go to bed and pull the covers over our head hoping the pain will just go away by itself. And, sometimes those tactics work well.

Sometimes they don’t.

The pain continues to tap us on the shoulder. I’m here, it seems to say. I’m still here.

So now what do we do?

Ah… now is when the real work begins. Now is when we take a few deep breaths and begin to listen to what the pain is saying. We remind ourselves that pain is a brilliant messenger, here to remind us that something within our physical bodies needs our attention, not out of punishment, not out of a badness within ourselves, but just as a th-thumping noise under your car alerts you to a problem with your tire, you know it is a good idea to stop the car and attend to the flat.

The next time you experience a pain, whether physiological, psychological or spiritual, take a moment to get quiet within your mind… and ask the pain: What do you want to tell me? And, then listen intently to the answer. It will be there the moment you ask the question if you are willing to hear it.

You have nothing to lose.

IT ALL REVOLVES AROUND THE BUTTON

Someone dear, but no longer physically near, to me shared that thought provoking statement some time ago, inviting me to wonder exactly what button she was talking about. We’ve all seen the well known office supply television ads displaying the big red “easy button,” inviting future customers to relate the store’s clever gimmick with an easy shopping experience. But there was more, much more, that grew out of that statement, and for my first blog I want to share it with you.

What if we began seeing our zig-zag trials and tribulations called life as easy, starting right now?

What if we carried our own (you create the color) easy button in our pocket, or our purse, or even clandestinely hidden away in our hearts?

What if we trusted there is, and has always been and always will be, the perfect answer or solution to whatever’s currently griping our egoic minds?

I’m here to remind you that it does all revolve around the button – your very own easy button awaits you the moment you stop fighting, cease grinding, halt habitually worrying and press the damned thing already. You have nothing to lose.
